Vegas finally letting the majors in….

I popped by the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) conference in Vegas this week to meet some friends, and they announced a strategic franchisee partnership with the Venetian/Palazzo hotels where Priority Club members could accrue points if they stay at these properties, and in return the Venetian will get access to market to all Priority Club customers.

The new kid on the block, The Cosmopolitan Hotel (which is going to be sick by the way) has partnered with the Marriott hotels for a similar deal. While The Westin (Starwood) has been here for a while, they are off-strip and there is nothing sexy about it. However, It is a great place to stay for free if you want to burn some points.

Vegas properties never had a need to partner with the hospitality majors, but have decided that it can only add value, guests, and to the bottom line — which is what they desperately need. I think it is great, and I know that a bunch of consultant/road warrior friends are definitely going to take advantage of this.

Check out the promo for the The Cosmopolitan Hotel opening December 15th.
